IMPORTANT UPDATE ON YOUR ACP SERVICE

As previously communicated, the ACP benefit is ending, with April being the last fully funded month by the program. The ACP will continue to cover a portion of the cost for the month of May and to help you stay connected and North American Local will cover the rest.

What you need to know:

  • For May 2024, you will not see an increase or change in your service bill.

  • Your service will continue, without disruption.

  • After May 2024, we recommend additional actions you can take to stay connected and help manage your service bill costs.

In select states, North American Local provides service through the Lifeline Program, which similar to the ACP, offers a discount on service plans for qualifying low-income households. Additionally, we offer a variety of service plans at varying price points to fit your needs and budget.  We invite you to review our website or call our customer support team to learn more.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has determined that April will be the last month in which the ACP benefit will be applied to your internet service bill. This is due to limited funding. However, this may change if additional funding is approved by the government.

 

What this means for you:

  • Your internet service bill will increase by the amount of your previous ACP benefit.

  • You have several options:

    • Keep your current service plan and pay the full price.

    • Change to a different service plan that better fits your needs.

    • Opt out of service entirely.

Please note: Since February 7th, new enrollments for the ACP are no longer being accepted.

In 2021, Congress established the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, appropriating $14.2 billion. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) was tasked to develop and implement the ACP as well as ACP outreach and awareness activities.

In January 2024, the FCC announced potential changes to the ACP, indicating the program may end in the near future, if future government funding is not extended.

 

While the exact details and dates are still being finalized, we want to ensure that you are aware of this development.

 

Here is what you should know:

  1. The ACP is undergoing changes, which might end or alter the program.

  2. ACP applications and enrollments will not be processed after February 7, 2024 at 11:59 PM ET.

  3. Households who have applied, been approved, and are receiving the monthly internet discount before February 8, 2024 will continue to receive their ACP benefit until ACP funds run out, as long as the household remains enrolled in the program.

  4. After the ACP funds run out, the benefits you receive from us, their costs, and any associated discounts which enable you to obtain services at a reduced price or no cost, may be impacted.

  5. We are committed to keeping you informed and will provide more specific information as soon as it becomes available.

  6. We are exploring alternative options to continue to provide you service and support your connectivity needs, and will share these details with you.

  7. We recommend staying alert for updates from us on these potential changes.
